Realtek Ethernet Controller is not connected to my Laptop

I have a major issue that I hope someone can help me with. My Realtek Controler is no longer connected to my laptop. It is not hidden in the device manager either. It is just not there. Is there a way to enable it again in Command Prompt? I have tried all the popular ways to find it and so far nothing has worked except one day a Microsoft customer tech walked me through some command prompt steps, which was way more than just flushing my DNS. I wish I had written everything down because the steps I can't remember are the ones that fixed it. Unfortunately with the afternoons, windows update it was gone again. It was actually just hidden but stupid me did what the online suggestions said and I uninstalled the driver and rebooted thinking it would be installed again and it was just gone. Does anyone know what those magic steps are in the command prompt that will bring back my Ethernet controller? Thank you in advance.
